Vera’s Adventures In Rosenland
Once upon a time, long ago, a Dutch princess named Vera met her prince…and the rest is history!
- A white puffy dress? No thanks.
- A bunch of penguin-looking blokes pacing around? No thanks.
- A set of bridesmaids forced into their mal-fitting dresses? No thanks.
- An 8-tier wedding cake with cheap, wobbly dolls on the top? No thanks.
- A seating plan, a classic car, a wedding singer? No thanks.
- How about a group of bored-to-death guests staring bleary-eyed into space claiming they’re “…having a wonderful time darling…”? No thanks!!!!
Why is it that all weddings are the same? Why do we yearn for that unique special day and then just copy everything from millions of weddings that have gone before? What really is so special about that? Let’s face it, isn’t that why it’s your worst nightmare when yet another wedding invitation arrives? Come on, admit it!
Funnily enough, we actually do want to get married. In fact, neither I (nor Pete for that matter) expected Pete to go down on one knee in-keeping with convention to ask me to marry him. It was probably at that moment, when our eyes met in a romantic gaze (or was it horror?), that we realised that was the last bit of convention we were going to follow!
Our wedding is going to be different. Oh, it’ll be a day to remember alright! But not from boredom; from excitement in witnessing first hand all the unexpected happenings that will unfold.
We’ve set the date which is at 8:10pm on 20th October this year. Clever that, isn’t it? Got it yet? 20:10, 20/10, 2010. We’ve set the location too – it’s Peckforton Castle in the heart of Cheshire where all the A-celebrities (unlike us) get married. Take a look:
